Signs to Include for a Smooth Wedding

A wedding is one of the most exciting and overwhelming events to plan. As you research ideas, you'll realize there are more and more things to consider and it adds up quickly! So we’ve compiled a list to help you figure out what signs you’ll need!

Welcome Sign

The first thing your guests will look for when they arrive – the welcome sign! There are endless possibilities for elegance, simplicity, and charm with welcome signs. From thrifted options, to DIY, the welcome sign needs to be personable enough to intimately reflect the couple. This lets the guests know they are where they need to be. What could be more personable than a wedding sign with your favorite engagement photo? Directional Signs

Depending on your vendor, you might need to place signs to guide people over to the next location. Is your ceremony outside and your reception indoors? You might need a sign for that. Or simply, consider including a sign to guide guests to the restrooms.

Guest Book / Cards / Gifts

When your guests arrive, it’s a good idea to have a place designated for them to drop off any gifts or cards, and invite them to write in a guest book to leave their mark. A great way to invite them over is with a sign! It gives them something to do while they’re waiting for the ceremony to start, and promotes conversation.

Reserved Seats

Reserved seats are something to consider to maximize seating during the ceremony, prevent confusion, and prevent awkwardness amongst the guests. It’s also nice if you’d prefer certain people closer to the front, or, if you don’t have a bridal party, reserve a seat for someone who can hold your flowers for the ceremony.

Schedule

Some people like to include a sign for the schedule so everyone knows what’s going on and when. This is especially helpful for between the ceremony and reception when the couple goes off for some pictures and the guests are left to linger for a bit. Are you having time for appetizers? An after-party? Is your reception going to be at a different vendor? A schedule sign might be a good idea just to keep everyone up to date.

Bar / Drinks

Are you having a cocktail hour? A table for refreshments? Signs are great for inviting the guests over to help themselves while the couple goes off for some photos before the reception. This minimizes confusion, promotes mingling, and creates a smoother transition from the ceremony. You can also include a menu on the sign.

Seating Chart / Table Numbers

Like the reserved seating mentioned above, a seating chart is helpful for maximized seating during the reception. If you don’t want to carefully map out where each guest is to sit, just putting them at certain tables is also helpful. Of course this depends on how you are serving dinner to your guests, but if it involves them getting up, consider assigning table numbers. You can call each table up to receive their food to avoid long lines and preserve order.

Mr. and Mrs. Table

This is your table! Depending on the size of it, or if you even have a separate table, a sign could be a chance to add extra warmth and personality. Other ways you could level up your space would be to decorate your chairs with sashes or little hanging signs.

In Loving Memory

A memorial table is a sweet and charming way to remember the loved ones who couldn’t attend your wedding. This can be done by adding a few photographs, some lit candles, and a sign with a few comforting words for the guests.

Pictures

Whether you’re wanting to offer disposable cameras to your guests, go unplugged, or create a QR code for guests to upload their pictures to, displaying a sign will keep the guests in the loop!
